About me
I'm Matt Welch, owner of MTW Properties, LLC. I buy, renovate and resell homes across San Diego County, and I've worked in real estate here since 2009.
How I got started
I started in 2009 at a large residential investment firm with institutional backing. My first job was scouting properties headed to trustee sale. I'd drive out, check condition and occupancy, size up the neighborhood, and report back to the acquisitions team. It was a fast way to learn what a house is really worth and what it takes to fix one.
I took on more over the next few years and went on to oversee the firm's acquisitions across San Diego County.
MTW Properties
In 2018 I started MTW Properties, LLC to buy and renovate homes my own way. I buy across all of San Diego County, run every valuation in-house, and get back to people fast. When I agree to a price, I close at that price; I don't retrade. Then I renovate the home properly and put it back on the market. You can see the work on my Projects page.
How I like to work
- Straight answers. If a deal works for me, I'll tell you. If it doesn't, I'll tell you that too, and why.
- My word holds. The price I agree to is the price I close at.
- The work matters. Every home I renovate is one a family will live in for years. I want it done right.
- Relationships last. Many of the people I work with today, I've worked with for years.
Outside of work
I live in Carlsbad with my wife and our two boys. When we're not working on a project, you'll find us at the beach, the parks and everything else North County has to offer.
